Previously  'Zeal cottage', this place is now called Bala Brook.
'Bala'   is the name of the brook that pours down the edge of the property into the Avon, in celtic it just means stream of water . In Sanskrit, it refers to the energy and vigour we need for yoga and meditation

Travel instructions.
1. By train to Totnes station, taxi (we can try to arrange sharing) 8 miles
2. By car, driving south from Exeter along the A 38, quit at Marley Head, north-east of South Brent, wriggle north-westwards around lanes following signs to Avon Dam, up to Shipley Bridge (a big public carpark, whence a tarmac pedestrian track leads northwards to the Avon Reservoir-Dam). At Shipley Bridge cross the river Avon, follow the lane around turning southwards past the big carpark. – After 2 minutes, look out for ‘Zeal cottage’ – ‘Bala Brook’, the second habitation on your right.
3. Approaching on the A385 from Totnes, cross the A38 and follow as above.
4. Approaching along the A38 from the South turn off to South Brent. Then you can avoid going through the Village by taking a left turn just before it where there is a big main sign  'South Brent twinned with...', and signs for Brent Mill Business park and Aish. . You will need the map to show the lanes bringing you under the railway and around to the Aish lane and thence on up . Make your way up to Aish then turn left to go up nearly 2 miles towards Shipley Bridge.
Bala Brook (previously Zeal cottage) is  after a  'weak bridge' , in a dip just before the little Bala bridge. If you arrive at Shipley Bridge, you have gone too far.  The signs for Bala Brook together with '
Zeal cottage', are beside our gate. Do not try to enter any unsigned properties. Bridge.
